DuraFlex Fireplace Services Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • DuraFlex 316L liner seam separation at the tee connection. We see this most often in wood-burning fireplaces in prewar buildings, especially on the Upper West Side and Riverside Drive, where the original terra cotta flue was relined years ago with a DuraFlex 316L system. The liner itself holds up, but the connection at the tee where the liner meets the appliance collar gets pulled by thermal expansion, and the seam starts to open. The symptom is a faint wood-smoke smell in the room even with the damper closed. The fix is usually a mechanical reconnection with a proper band, not a new liner - but we only know that after the camera shows us the actual gap.
  • DuraFlex Pro smooth-wall liner stiffness in tight Manhattan flue offsets. Pro is a heavier liner, and older Manhattan chimneys rarely have plumb flues. Where the flue jogs, we’ve seen Pro liners kink at the offset instead of bending cleanly, which leaves a flat spot that collects creosote faster than the rest of the run. The camera tells us if the kink is sharp enough to need a section replaced with a flexible DuraFlex 316L mid-run, and if so, we’ll say so in writing with the footage to prove it.
  • DuraFlex aluminum liner (gas-only) pitting inside converted fireplaces. In Manhattan apartments where a wood-burning fireplace was converted to a vented gas log set, we regularly find older aluminum DuraFlex liners with white corrosion pitting along the bottom third. Condensation from Manhattan’s humid summers sits low in the liner when the fireplace isn’t used, and aluminum doesn’t like moisture. If the pitting is minor and the liner is properly supported, it has life left. If the camera shows flaking, we’ll quote a proper 316L stainless replacement for the gas log set.
  • DuraFlex rain cap hardware loosening on tall Manhattan rooflines. The wind load on a cap at eight or ten stories isn’t the same as on a two-story house, and we’ve pulled off DuraFlex caps where the hardware had been worked loose over several winters. The cap sits crooked, water runs down the chase, and the homeowner only notices when the ceiling below the chase starts showing a stain. This is a straightforward refit with new hardware and a proper seal - we just need roof access, which most Manhattan buildings coordinate through the super.
  • DuraFlex liner-to-damper interference from older cast dampers. Some Manhattan fireplaces still have the original cast iron throat damper in place, and when a DuraFlex liner was installed, the liner was run right past it without enough clearance. Over time, the liner wall can wear from contact with the damper plate, especially if the damper is opened and closed seasonally. If the camera shows wall thinning at the contact point, we’ll quote replacing that liner section and, in most cases, recommend removing or locking open the old damper so the wear doesn’t repeat.

Our DuraFlex Fireplace Services Process
  1. 1
Book the visit. You call (862) 319-8047, talk to a live person, and we assign a named technician. You get a text when they’re on the way.
  2. 2
Camera scan first. Before we touch anything, we run the camera down the flue and record the condition of the DuraFlex liner, the firebox, the damper, and the chimney crown. You see the footage with us on the spot.
  3. 3
Written diagnosis and price. We tell you in plain terms what the camera found - “the liner seam at the tee has opened about a quarter inch” - and hand you a written scope of work with a written price. Nothing is done without this.
  4. 4
Parts decision. When a repair requires parts, we use OEM DuraFlex components when they’re available and appropriate. If a quality aftermarket part does the job better for the money - a band, a cap, a connector - we tell you why and show you the price difference. The choice is yours, and it’s in writing.
  5. 5
Repair and test. We do the work, then test to confirm draft and proper operation. You receive a documented photo record of the finished job, per Clause 4 of the Haven Standard.
  6. 6
Warranty and record. You walk away with the written warranty and the full photo archive. If anything isn’t done right, the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers it - we make it right within a year.

Why Manhattan Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Manhattan for DuraFlex Work

Why Manhattan Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Manhattan for DuraFlex Work

We’ve been running cameras down flues since 2009 - more than 38,000 inspections and cleanings, every single one with a written price before work started and a documented photo record when it was done. That record isn’t an upsell here. Clause 4 of the Haven Standard requires it on every visit, and it’s the reason our techs can show you exactly what they found instead of describing a feeling.

Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed, and when you call, a live person answers - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. DuraFlex is our most common liner brand in Manhattan, but we also service HeatShield and Gelco systems, so when the camera shows a mixed installation or an older material upstream, we know what we’re looking at. We don’t sell work that wasn’t on the camera report. Corrine Halstead walks every Manhattan job at least once, and if the camera says the liner has five years left, that’s what you’ll hear - not a pitch for a new one.
